Ministry of Food Foundation Collective Ethos

March 24, 2025

Food is a positive force for change, and the choices we make today will shape the future. Whether in schools, homes, or local kitchens, the Ministry of Food Foundation Collective is about taking action – one meal, one lesson and one connection at a time. By working together, we can make healthy, joyful and sustainable food education a reality for everyone. Are you ready to join us?

We believe…

  1. Cooking is a life skill, not a luxury. Everyone deserves to know how to cook real food. It’s a basic life skill that gives people a better chance of leading a healthier, happier life.
  2. Good food shouldn’t be a privilege. Every child deserves fresh, healthy food – at school, at home and in their neighborhoods. It’s about making nutritious food standard, accessible and delicious.
  3. Food brings people together. When we cook and eat together, we build stronger families, schools and communities. Sitting down for a meal isn’t just about enjoying food – it’s very much about connection.
  4. Real change starts with real people. We support and amplify the amazing work already happening in schools, kitchens, and neighborhoods, because lasting change starts from the ground up.
  5. Small actions make a big difference. You don’t need a fancy kitchen or a big budget to cook and eat well. Simple skills, seasonal ingredients and a little knowledge can change lives – one meal at a time.
  6. Joy is the secret ingredient. Food cooked with joy and love has the ability to bring a smile to people’s faces. And that’s where Jamie’s simple, straightforward recipes come into their own.
  7. Nutritious food tastes great. Fueling ourselves with delicious, nutritious food enables us to be the best version of ourselves. It’s about understanding how food affects our bodies, so we’re empowered to make good choices.
  8. Kids deserve to know where food comes from. By teaching them how food is grown and sourced – so they know that beef comes from cows, or what organic means – the power is put back in their hands.
  9. The kitchen is for everyone. Cooking is for everyone: any age, whatever your skillset – everyone benefits from learning to cook. The younger you can get kids cooking, the better; but it’s never too late to start.
  10. Food can change the future. What we eat shapes our health, our neighborhoods and the planet. By making better food choices, we create a better future – for ourselves, our kids and for the world.
