Fruit and veg, no matter their shape, colour, texture and size play a vital role in helping us live a healthy lifestyle. Fresh, frozen and tinned all provide essential vitamins and minerals that our bodies need to function.

Humble tinned fruit can be an especially handy, affordable and accessible cupboard staple – and isn’t just for pudding! It's a versatile ingredient that can be used for so many dishes, from summery tinned fruit cocktails to festive hams, delicious desserts and loads more.

Jamie’s cookbook, Eat Yourself Healthy, contains some delicious recipes that cleverly use tinned fruit to help you smash your 7-a-day.

Is tinned fruit good for you?

Our in-house nutritionist, Rozzie, says: Yes! Tinned fruit absolutely counts towards your 7-a-day and still provides a source of valuable fibre and nutrition. The key is to try to select fruit tinned in water or its juice, rather than sugar. With a long shelf life and affordable price, tinned fruit is an easier, budget-friendly way to boost your daily intake without running the risk of your fresh produce going off. An 80g drained serving of tinned fruit counts as one of your 7-a-day.

So here are 10+ delicious, budget-friendly tinned fruit recipes that everyone is sure to love!
