Jamie's Dyslexia Revolution

Like three kids in every classroom, Jamie Oliver is dyslexic – and went through school undiagnosed. He struggled, felt like a failure, and believed education wasn’t for him, simply because his brain worked differently. Yet school should absolutely include everyone – and that’s what Jamie is campaigning for.

“An education system that only works for some kids and not everyone, is broken.”

— Jamie Oliver

What is Jamie’s Dyslexia Revolution?

Jamie with 3 school children outside parliament in London

Too many children are being failed by an education system that isn’t built for them. Bright, creative kids are written off simply because they don’t learn the “right” way – and Jamie Oliver was one of them.

Like three children in every classroom, Jamie is dyslexic. Undiagnosed throughout school, he struggled and felt like a failure – not because he couldn’t learn, but because he learned differently.

He’s not alone. Teachers, parents, and experts all agree: the system is leaving too many behind. It focuses on the 75% who fit the mould, while a quarter of children slip through the cracks.

We need a truly inclusive classroom that values every way of learning. Here are two changes Jamie’s campaigning for right now:

SPOT THE SIGNS EARLY

How can we help kids if we don’t even know they need support? Early screening is key – it lets us catch it early, before they’re left to struggle.

SUPPORT OUR TEACHERS

Teachers are amazing and of course they want to help every child, so let’s make sure they get the training and support to do it.
